Make-up brands frequently do one of two things, advertise their product as magical, or as a scientific innovation. Alchemy was rooted in magical beliefs but also acted as the foundation of modern chemistry, bridging these two worlds together. The concept of potions also overlaps in a playful way with all the various liquids used in the beauty space. Thus the concept for Alkmy beauty was born.
The idea of potions inspired me to create this lava-lamp-esc blob motif that you see in the typography and the decor on the bottle mock-up below. Additionally in creating the type I realized that I could make the "A" and "y" mirror imaged of each other and designed them to lock together perfectly to create the icon.
